I found this place one day on my way to another adventure. I later went back because "Holy crap! Giant random Buddha!!" What I would soon learn though was that it wasn't just random, it was built as a place of meditation and a place of safety for those looking for solace. And what I found was a place for myself. I've gone there quite a few times just to be with my thoughts. One of my favorite times, I had sprawled myself beneath the giant Buddha only to open my eyes in movie-like fashion to a monk staring into my face. "Ma'am... you alright?" He asked. I told him I was and that I found it very comforting there. He said the others inside were joking that I prayed funny and he mimicked me all laid out on the ground, haha.
The monks here are looking to expand to a large Meditation Center behind the Buddha for people of all faiths to come together. Part of their mission statement says, "The Meditation Center will teach and practice traditional meditation techniques, and will also be a center for intellectual pursuits, including the study and practice of meditation and inter-faith dialogue."
