Barnegat Lighthouse or Barnegat Light, colloquially known as "Old Barney", is a historic lighthouse located in Barnegat Lighthouse State Park on the northern tip of Long Beach Island, in the borough of Barnegat Light, Ocean County, New Jersey. It's on the south side of Barnegat Inlet, 208 Broadway.
It was first lit in 1859 and automated in 1927.
The architect was George Meade.
Old Barney stands at 172 feet.
This lighthouse is also part of the NJ Lighthouse Challenge, which we attend each October since 1999. It's a beautiful light to climb as well. Windy days are the best, although for your first climb up this historical light, you might want to go on a calmer day! We highly recommend the climb up her majestic tower to the amazing water and beach views from the top!
